Glenn Donnelly spent over 26 years as a New Jersey State Trooper, where he built a career on discipline, integrity, and service to others. When he retired in 1987, he brought those same values into the tree care industry — founding Pro-Stump Tree Service from his home in Millstone Township.
What started as a one-man operation with a pickup truck and a chainsaw has grown into one of Central New Jersey's most trusted tree service companies. Over nearly four decades, Glenn has personally supervised thousands of jobs — from emergency storm damage at 2 AM to complex crane-assisted removals over homes and power lines.
Glenn's commitment to professional development led him to earn the Certified Treecare Safety Professional designation (CTSP #03722) — a distinction held by roughly 2,500 professionals worldwide — along with his NJ Licensed Tree Expert credential (#200988). Pro-Stump Tree Service also keeps an ISA Certified Arborist on staff, so every job is assessed and supervised to ISA standards.

A Story From the Field
The 2011 Bear Rescue
In 2011, Glenn got a call nobody else would take — a black bear had climbed high into a tree and wasn't coming down on its own. Fire and animal control had turned the job away. Glenn geared up, climbed up, and brought the bear safely back to the ground without a scratch on the animal or anyone else.
It's the kind of call that sums up how this company has operated for almost four decades: show up, do the work safely, and take care of whatever's actually in the tree — even when it's a bear. Glenn still talks about it, and we're proud of it.
